Since when I use more different kind of social networks, I post less on this blogs: will social networks kill my blog?

It seems like lighter platforms (Twitter, FriendFeed or FaceBook) answer in a faster way my need to communicate.

What’s happening to you?


Have you ever asked yourself: what’s Twitter for?? (ok, you may ask NOW What’s Twitter? 🙂 … Google it!)

Ask all those big brands that are already on Twitter: Buzz Marketing for Technology: Brands that Tweet !!!

… unfortuntaley I don’t see any Italian Company in the list.

I’ve already written (Twitter From Mars) about the NASA experiments of using Twitter to communicate the activities of Phoenix, the last exploration rover sent to ‘dig’ Mars.

Well, the trip is almost over, Phoenix is ‘sending its last twits: check it out here: … and let’s hope some companies will follow this interesting example.


I’m in LinkedIn. Every time someone that I don’t know wants to link me, here is basically what I answer:

Thank you for your request. I have a rule, I link only people I know and trust ….

The reason is pretty simple: I feel ‘responsible’ of the performance and reliability (whatever these two things mean in a given context) of my network.

One can agree or not and here is a pattern I’ve noticed in the answers I get:

  • almost ALL NON ITALIAN requestors do understand and above all respect my choice,
  • most of ITALIAN requestors seem offended in some way and try to justify themselves

To add my comment: I couldn’t agree more on all the topics about communication, better use of new ‘internet’ habits (don’t file, just search) and rest / focus /task management.
I’m a bit more cold on open-source (it still has too much the taste of a ‘religion’ more than of an opportunity) and people not being in the “office” (effective communication is face to face)

Let me also quote what you can read in the About page of the Zen Habits blog:

WOW …. one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind!

With Google Docs offline (powered by Google Gears), I can take my little piece of the cloud with me wherever I go. Once enabled, I have a local version of my document list and editors, along with my documents.
As long as I have an Internet connection, every change I make is saved to the cloud. When I lose my connection, I sacrifice some features, but I can still access my documents.


Interesting post in the Google Operating System blog, called Google’s Design Guidelines.

Here is the list of principles behind the great UI design of Google products:

Every 3/4 weeks I start thinking that Twitter is an intriguing stuff and that I want to explore it more.

Some questions for you:

  • which client do you suggest to twitter (on Win PC + Smartphone)?
  • how (which tool/site) do you aggregate time lines from other twitters?
