Reading this very good post on education (in Italian, sorry), I noticed that the standard educational paradigms al least in Italy, are based on exactly the contrary of what the writer states: we want to empower the ability to autonomously grow of our children.

  • we reward full alignment to what has been taught: you have to know what’s in the book .. ‘deviations’ are not seen as good
  • we discourage copying one another … discouraging ‘group work’
  • we protect them obsessively from the ‘outside’ … filtering what we think is not good

And, dear bosses, we probably do the same in our work experience, don’t we?

P.S. Thanks to Antonio for discussing with me on this topic
