Last weekend I attended a class on Supply Chain Management and Industrial Processes.
Prof. Alberto Portioli (MIP – Politecnico di Milano – School of Management) talked about Lean Production and Organization: it was a great session!
Among other things, I appreciated a lot the concept of isolating small pieces of waste (muda) and concentrate them. In concentrating them they become more visible, ‘bigger’ and then easier to face.
So the path to eliminate waste, pass through the concept of finding, isolating and extracting waste. This is, by itself, a great value to our process: a well defined and isolated enemy is something that, even if it cannot be eliminated, at least can be controlled and eroded as time goes by. And the rest of the process gets smoother and cleaner!!!
