This post on Dave Cheong blog, gave me the idea of writing this post about time boxing.

First let’s define time boxing as a time / project management tool (quoting from the post):

Time boxing is about fixing the time we have available to work on a given task and then doing the best we can within that time frame

Why do I like time boxing?? Here is a list of items:

  • No slip, adjust requirements or scope
  • Feel the rhythm, be aware of time
  • Dates are fixed, requirements are not
  • It helps in delivery at a constant pace
  • It’s easy to track
  • It’s easy to understand for customers
  • It forces you to split requirements and then complexity
  • It’s good to celebrate regularly

Do you want to add your items to this list??

    * It feeds the trust between customer and dev team
    * It gives to everyone the same idea of what “done” means
    * It’s invaluable for ProjectManegers, ScrumMasters or Coaches to keep the team on track
    * It gives expectations to customer and a chance to developers to satisfy them
